Winter blues only occur in the fall and winter when the days get shorter. The sun rises later in the morning, so that daylight falls on our eyes only later in the morning. Daylight stimulates the production of the energy hormone cortisol and the happiness hormone serotonin and the night hormone melatonin is suppressed. In short, we need that daylight to wake up and become active.
The morning light naturally contains a high proportion of blue. The evening sun, on the other hand, has a much less blue share, so that it turns more red/orange in the evening. The blue light in the morning awakens our body. So you won’t really wake up without that light.
The Propeaq light glasses with blue light ensure that you can start your day energetically.
The hormone cortisol is produced in the adrenal cortex. This hormone is also known as the stress hormone, but is actually an energy hormone. It ensures that glucose and carbohydrates in our food in the form of glycogen are converted into energy. The hormone cortisol ensures that body processes start up and the body wakes up.
Daylight consists of all colors of the rainbow and we see all colors together as white light. Daylight is a bit bluer in the morning and more orange/red in the evening.
Only the blue part of the daylight has been scientifically proven to have a positive effect on waking up in the morning. The optimum wavelength is 468 nM, with each nM more or less the effetivity decreases by large steps.
The huge advantage of blue light over white light is that at a much lower intensity of just 35 lux, it is just as effective as white light at 10,000 lux. This makes light glasses much more comfortable than an old-fashioned bright daylight lamp.
The Propeaq light glasses are based on scientific studies into the optimal balance between performance and sleep. We have taken the insights around the right conditions for creating balance and have developed our patented product. Involvement in scientific research is part of our DNA. Various clinical studies have been completed, in progress or in preparation to further optimize insights into the use of Propeaq light glasses in practice.
