Improved sleep thanks to blue light

According to research conducted by Radboud UMC in 2019 in collaboration with Toine Schoutens, nurse practitioner and researcher, Propeaq light therapy glasses offer valuable results for Parkinson's patients. These innovative light glasses, which emit blue light, not only improve sleep quality but also reduce daytime sleepiness. Patients report fewer depressive symptoms and improved motor skills, which has a significant impact on their daily lives.

The results of the first phase have been published in Parkinson's Disease (Hindawi) Volume 2019. Read more about it here

Research into light therapy for Parkinson's

In 2019, Radboud UMC conducted research into the effectiveness of light therapy. Propeaq light therapy glasses, which use specific blue light, are used to treat sleep and mood disorders. The study showed that 74% of participants experienced improvements in their sleep and overall well-being, underscoring the role of portable daylight in treatment. Results from a new, more extensive study are expected in 2025.

Optimal treatment for sleep disorders

Many Parkinson's patients suffer from disrupted sleep cycles, which affects their quality of life. Instead of traditional sleep medication, the use of blue light therapy glasses can offer an effective and safe solution. Propeaq light glasses help restore the sleep-wake cycle, which is crucial for better sleep and overall quality of life. Always consult a specialist to determine how you can effectively use these innovative light therapy glasses for your situation.

Easy to use Powerful effect

Wear the Propeaq light therapy glasses for 30 to 60 minutes in the morning. For best results, we recommend using the light glasses immediately after getting up, but in any case before 9:00 a.m.

At the end of the afternoon, early evening, before 7:00 p.m., wear the daylight glasses again for 30 to 60 minutes.

Continue doing this for at least 21 days until your sleep problems have greatly improved. If the sleep problems recur, repeat the above advice.

During the RadboudUMC Parkinson Symposium on May 16, 2025, Propeaq emphasized the promising results of a 2019 study into blue light therapy in Parkinson's patients. This study, published in the journal Hindawi Parkinson's Disease, showed that three quarters of the participants, after using the Propeaq light therapy glasses for at least a week, reported improvements in sleep, mood and motor functions. This non-invasive therapy appears to be able to significantly improve the quality of life of patients. The results of a new study are expected in the summer of 2025, which is expected to further substantiate the effectiveness and safety of the therapy, called Chrono Coaching.
