Frequently Asked Questions

We’re very pleased to welcome you as a customer.

Below, we’ve answered some of the most frequently asked questions to help you get started.

General questions

Below you’ll find a number of general questions you might have as a light therapy glasses user.

How long should I wear the glasses?

That depends on your goal. If you’re using the blue energy light, 30 minutes per day is usually sufficient. The blue light will switch off automatically after 30 minutes. If you’re using the orange lenses, wear the glasses for 30 to 60 minutes before going to bed. When using the orange lenses, make sure the light is switched off.

Do I need an app to use the glasses?

No, that’s not necessary. We’ve developed a handy PROPEAQ app that you can use to help reduce jet lag, support irregular work schedules, or improve your sleep. The app provides personalised advice, but the glasses themselves do not communicate with the app, and all your data remains securely on your phone.

Is the light safe for my eyes?

Yes, the blue light is low-intensity and falls well within safe limits. It’s also suitable for people with laser-treated eyes, artificial lenses, or contact lenses. If you have a retinal condition (retinopathy), we recommend consulting your doctor before using the glasses.

Can I drive while wearing the glasses?

We advise not to drive or take part in traffic in the dark while the blue light is switched on. You should also avoid driving with the orange lenses, as red traffic lights can appear dark grey. In addition, the orange lenses are designed to make you feel more relaxed and sleepy in the evening, which can reduce your alertness and driving safety.

How do I turn the glasses on and off?

Press the power button on the inside of the right arm of the glasses briefly to switch the light on. Press the button again to switch it off. After being switched on, the blue light will automatically turn off after 30 minutes.

How can I see the battery level?

Press and hold the power button for a few seconds, the battery indicator lights will turn on.

  • Three lights indicate the battery is 70% – 100% charged.
  • Two lights indicate 35% – 70%.
  • One light indicates 0% – 35% remaining.
How long does the battery last?

A fully charged battery provides at least 3 hours of active light. With average use (30 minutes per day), you can use the glasses for at least 6 days before recharging. Press the power button briefly to check the battery status, shown by three LED indicators.

Is the PROPEAQ light therapy glasses available in different sizes?

The glasses come in one universal size that fits most people comfortably. The arms can be slightly adjusted by an optician if needed. For children or people with very broad heads, the glasses may be less suitable.

How do I insert the lenses into the glasses?

Please also refer to the illustrations in the user manual. To insert a lens, place the nose side of the lens on the inside of the nose bridge and press the lens into the frame until you hear a click. This may require a little force the first few times. Always press with your thumbs on the outside of the lens, on the same side as the arms of the glasses.

To remove the lenses, push from the outside edge towards the inside of the frame. Place your thumb on the outside of the lens and gently press it out of the frame.

Has any scientific research been conducted?

Yes, extensive research has been conducted into the effects of blue light. The PROPEAQ light therapy glasses are even used as a reference device in scientific studies. Links to these studies can be found on the PROPEAQ website. In 2017, Hall, Rosbash, and Young were awarded the Nobel Prize for their pioneering research on the biological clock.
