Improve your sleep with the PROPEAQ 3
Many people with ADHD experience sleep problems due to a dysregulated sleep rhythm, known as Delayed Sleep-Phase Syndrome (DSPS). This makes falling asleep difficult and getting up feels like a chore. The Propeaq light glasses offer a solution by normalising your sleep rhythm within three weeks. These light therapy glasses help you use daylight more effectively and support a healthy sleep cycle. Incidentally, discipline to use the light glasses daily is essential for success.

The effects of DSPS on your energy
In about 80% of people with ADHD, a disrupted biological clock occurs, making it difficult for them to get going in the morning. This often leads to a vicious cycle of sleep deprivation and fatigue. Daylight glasses can help with this by optimising your exposure to natural light. This not only improves your sleep, but can also have positive effects on your mood and metabolic health, reducing risks of obesity and type 2 diabetes.

‘In people with ADHD, we often see a disturbed sleep rhythm and a delayed biological clock. From research using blue light in the morning from the Propeaq light glasses, we can better regulate the day-night rhythm, leading to more rest, better concentration and fewer ADHD complaints during the day (Emma van Andel, publication in preparation).

The 21-Day Method with PROPEAQ 3 (chrono therapy)
The simple solution to DSPS lies in using the Propeaq light therapy glasses, combined with consistent lifestyle changes. Start by bringing your bedtime forward by 15 minutes every night, supported by blue light from the light therapy glasses in the morning. These sleep glasses calibrate your internal clock and optimise your sleep. Follow the programme carefully to regain your ideal sleep-wake rhythm and increase your well-being. Remember to discuss your plans with a healthcare professional beforehand for targeted guidance.

PROPEAQ Magazine - ADHD edition
People with ADHD often have trouble sleeping due to a disrupted sleep pattern, also known as DSPS. This causes them to fall asleep late and have difficulty waking up in the morning. With Propeaq's 21-day schedule and light therapy via special glasses, this pattern can be effectively shifted. By using blue light in the morning and orange glasses in the evening every day, the biological clock is gradually adjusted. The result: faster sleep, waking up more rested and functioning better during the day. Read more about it in our free Propeaq Magazine - ADHD edition.

ADHD and the impact of sleep and light
Prof. Dr. J.J.S. Kooij
SUMMARY - ADHD is accompanied by sleep disorders in the majority of cases, of which late sleep-wake phase disorder is the most common. However, insomnia, sleep apnoea and restless leg syndrome are also common, and not infrequently patients suffer from multiple sleep disorders. What this says about the aetiology of ADHD is still a question, but the importance of treating sleep symptoms should not be underestimated. Indeed, sleep deprivation exacerbates the severity of ADHD symptoms such as concentration and memory problems and mood swings. Binge eating, obesity and (winter) depression can also occur as a result. In particular, this article focuses on treatment of the most common sleep disorder, the delayed sleep phase. This consists of education on the importance of the light-and-dark cycle for sleep, sleep hygiene, melatonin at night and light in the morning, or chronotherapy. This approach has been shown by research to be effective and is well applicable in practice.

Conclusion
ADHD is associated with many psychological and physical comorbidities. Sleep disorders are the most common at almost 80%, with the delayed sleep phase being the most common. The resulting sleep deprivation causes daytime sleepiness, and concentration problems, (winter) depression, increased appetite, with obesity, cardiovascular disease and other physical disorders in the long run. Effective treatment of the delayed sleep phase consists of sleep hygiene to which is added 0.5-1 mg melatonin in the evening, to start five hours before the current sleep time, and one hour earlier each week until the final goal, the desired sleep time, is reached. In practice, it is often easier for people with ADHD to take 1 mg of melatonin at a set time, one hour before the desired falling asleep time. Light therapy 30 minutes in the morning can help get up and reduce winter depression. The severity of ADHD also decreases somewhat with treatment with light and melatonin.

Hype of Hope: innovative blue light therapy for Parkinson's during RadboudUMC Parkinson Symposium
During the RadboudUMC Parkinson Symposium on May 16, 2025, Propeaq emphasized the promising results of a 2019 study into blue light therapy in Parkinson's patients. This study, published in the journal Hindawi Parkinson's Disease, showed that three quarters of the participants, after using the Propeaq light therapy glasses for at least a week, reported improvements in sleep, mood and motor functions. This non-invasive therapy appears to be able to significantly improve the quality of life of patients. The results of a new study are expected in the summer of 2025, which is expected to further substantiate the effectiveness and safety of the therapy, called Chrono Coaching.
