Improve your sleep with the PROPEAQ 3 for ADHD
Many people with ADHD experience sleep problems due to a disrupted sleep pattern, known as Delayed Sleep-Phase Syndrome (DSPS). This makes falling asleep difficult and getting up feels like a chore. The Propeaq light glasses offer a solution by normalizing your sleep pattern within three weeks. These light therapy glasses help you to use daylight more effectively and support a healthy sleep cycle. Incidentally, discipline to use the light glasses daily is essential for success.

The effects of DSPS on your energy
About 80% of people with ADHD have a disrupted biological clock, making it difficult to get going in the morning. This often leads to a vicious circle of sleep deprivation and fatigue. The daylight glasses can help with this by optimizing your exposure to natural light. This not only improves your sleep, but can also have positive effects on your mood and metabolic health, reducing the risk of obesity and type 2 diabetes.

“In people with ADHD, we often see a disturbed sleep pattern and a delayed biological clock. Research with blue light in the morning, from the Propeaq light glasses, allows us to better regulate the day-night rhythm, which leads to more rest, better concentration and fewer ADHD complaints during the day (Emma van Andel, publication in preparation).

The 21-Day Method with PROPEAQ 3 (chrono therapy)
The simple solution for DSPS lies in using the Propeaq light glasses, combined with a consistent lifestyle change. Start by advancing your bedtime by 15 minutes each night, supported by blue light from the light therapy glasses in the morning. These sleep glasses calibrate your internal clock and optimize your sleep. Follow the program closely to regain your ideal sleep-wake rhythm and increase your well-being. Don't forget to discuss your plans with a healthcare professional in advance for targeted guidance.

PROPEAQ Magazine - ADHD edition
People with ADHD often have trouble sleeping due to a disrupted sleep pattern, also known as DSPS. This causes them to fall asleep late and have difficulty waking up in the morning. With Propeaq's 21-day program and light therapy through special glasses, this pattern can be effectively shifted. By using blue light in the morning and orange-colored glasses in the evening, the biological clock is gradually adjusted. The result: falling asleep faster, waking up more refreshed, and functioning better during the day. Read more about it in our free Propeaq Magazine - ADHD edition.

ADHD and the impact of sleep and light
Prof. Dr. J.J.S. Kooij
SUMMARY – In the majority of cases, ADHD is accompanied by sleep disorders, of which delayed sleep-wake phase disorder is the most common. But insomnia, sleep apnea and restless legs syndrome are also common, and patients often suffer from multiple sleep disorders. What this says about the etiology of ADHD is still a question, but the importance of treating the sleep complaints should not be underestimated. Sleep deprivation worsens the severity of ADHD symptoms such as concentration and memory problems and mood swings. Binge eating, obesity and (winter) depression can also occur as a result. This article focuses in particular on the treatment of the most common sleep disorder, the delayed sleep phase. This consists of education about the importance of the light-dark cycle for sleep, sleep hygiene, melatonin in the evening and light in the morning, or chronotherapy. This approach has been shown by research to be effective and can be applied well in practice.
(NED JOURNAL OF LIFESTYLE MEDICINE 2025;3(2):61–8)

Conclusion
ADHD is associated with many psychological and physical comorbidities. Sleep disorders are the most common, accounting for almost 80%, of which the delayed sleep phase is the most common. The resulting lack of sleep causes daytime sleepiness, concentration problems, (winter) depression, increased appetite, and eventually obesity, cardiovascular diseases and other physical disorders. Effective treatment of the delayed sleep phase consists of sleep hygiene with the addition of 0.5–1 mg melatonin in the evening, starting five hours before the current sleep onset time, and one hour earlier every week until the final goal, the desired sleep onset time, is reached. In practice, it is often easier for people with ADHD to take 1 mg melatonin at a fixed time, one hour before the desired sleep onset time. Light therapy 30 minutes in the morning can help with getting up and reduce winter depression. The severity of ADHD also decreases somewhat with treatment with light and melatonin.

Hype of Hope: innovative blue light therapy for Parkinson's during RadboudUMC Parkinson Symposium
During the RadboudUMC Parkinson Symposium on May 16, 2025, Propeaq emphasized the promising results of a 2019 study into blue light therapy in Parkinson's patients. This study, published in the journal Hindawi Parkinson's Disease, showed that three quarters of the participants, after using the Propeaq light therapy glasses for at least a week, reported improvements in sleep, mood and motor functions. This non-invasive therapy appears to be able to significantly improve the quality of life of patients. The results of a new study are expected in the summer of 2025, which is expected to further substantiate the effectiveness and safety of the therapy, called Chrono Coaching.
