Today is World Parkinson's Day and we reflect on the consequences of this nasty disease that affects more and more people. In Parkinson's disease, certain brain cells die slowly. Parkinson's disease is characterized by problems with a change in movement, people become slower and tremble to a greater or lesser extent. Often there are also problems with sleep and mood.

Fortunately, science does not stand still and new medicines and techniques are being developed that stabilize or improve the quality of life. In our case, we continue with the research that we started in 2018 and where a first publication has been realized in 2019. Due to the corona pandemic, our research came to a temporary standstill. However, studies with light therapy are also being conducted elsewhere in the world that are promising and can significantly improve the patient's quality of life.

Despite the fact that no conclusive cure has yet been found for PD, the outlook is relatively favorable. Because more and more is known about factors related to the possible cause (environmental pollution, agricultural poisons), preventive programs can be developed. Because the disruption of the sleep/wake rhythm plays a negative role in the proper functioning of the patient, we are trying to develop a method that ensures that people sleep better and therefore experience more quality of life during the day.

To this end, a new study (phase II) will most likely start in the short term, in which we hope that the use of app-controlled light glasses will give such favorable effects that we can launch this product on the medical market within two years.

We will keep you informed of the developments on the Parkinson's page on our website .
