Chrono Coaching is a method to shift your biological, natural rhythm, by imitating the blue spectrum in daylight. Jacco Verhaeren explains at BNR Sport how exactly that works. Listen to the podcast via the button above.
Light and dark have an impact on us, when it gets light we get up and when it gets dark we produce melatonin and go to sleep. This is regulated by our biological clock. Scientific research shows that the human body has the highest cardiovascular and muscle strength around 5:00 PM. If your race, your moment of peak performance, is not at 5:00 PM, you are not at your strongest and best.
With Chrono Coaching you can adjust your biological clock so that you can deliver your top performance during a morning race and have the highest cardiovascular and muscle strength at that time.
In addition, it is also very relevant that the Olympic Games are being held in Tokyo this year and Beijing next year, so jet lag is a big problem for everyone who has to travel through different time zones to get there.
The biological clock regulates not only muscle strength but also the sleep-wake rhythm. You can shift this rhythm by 1 to 1.5 hours per day by observing the blue light at certain times and blocking this light at other times. You therefore imitate a sunrise and sunset before your eyes, which allows you to shift this rhythm.
Shifting your biological clock is done by means of a tightly regulated by us tailor-made schedule, so discipline is required, otherwise it won't work. First we look at the chrono type, are you a morning, afternoon or evening person? Then we look at the destination where a top performance must be delivered. Finally, we look at the moment of your performance to create a tailor-made schedule.
Because we provide customized solutions, Chrono Coaching can be applied by everyone, regardless of the sport or discipline where peak performance is required.
