Propeaq light therapy glasses work by restoring the sleep/wake cycle and improving mood. This cycle is often disrupted in people with Parkinson's disease. For whatever reason, people go to sleep at the wrong time and get up at the wrong time. In addition, they often take many naps during the day, which reduces the pressure to sleep at night. This situation and the underlying sleep behaviour lead to a downward spiral and a decline in quality of life. This sleep disturbance often lasts for a long time. Consult your doctor before starting this method and read the enclosed instructions first.
Instructions and tips:
· Decide what time you want to go to sleep and what time you want to get up. Example: you go to sleep at 11 p.m. and get up at 7 a.m. This gives you 8 hours of healthy sleep, rest and recovery. We will use this rhythm in these instructions.
· From 9 p.m., set all the lights in your home to the lowest setting. For safety reasons, make sure you can see sufficiently. Avoid bright white and bluish light until you go to sleep.
· Make sure your bedroom is completely dark and cool.
· Set your alarm for 7 a.m. and put on your light glasses immediately after waking up and keep them on for at least 60 minutes.
· Take a power nap of no more than 20 minutes in the early afternoon. Absolutely no longer and no more than once a day.
· Put on your light glasses every day between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. and turn on the blue light for 60 minutes.
· Stick to this schedule for at least 14 days and repeat after 3 weeks.
It is not easy to stick to this schedule every day. However, it offers the best guarantee for a healthy sleep/wake rhythm in general and better sleep quality in particular.
